To coincide with Usher’s 3 Arena gig on the 20th March, Spin 1038 spoke to the singer in an exclusive interview with Fully Charged presenters Tracy Clifford and Ryan Phillips. The interview progressed to discuss the upcoming show with Ryan and Tracy suggesting that Usher should perform ‘Maniac 2000’ by Mark McCabe to woo the Irish crowds.

Maniac 2000 hit headlines last week as it celebrated 15 years since its release and reclaimed the top spot on the iTunes charts. The song is famously the fourth best selling single in Irish history and a popular clubbing anthem with Irish audiences.

And it seems Usher may be genuinely thinking of performing the track onstage at his gig in the 3Arena, as on Saturday, Ryan received a call from “Usher’s people” wanting to know the exact name of the track and artist. His assistant was also pleased to know that the track hit number one on iTunes this weekend on its 15th anniversary.

Phillips who is mates with Mark has been keeping him up to date on the hype. Speaking about the possibility of Usher singing Maniac 2000, Mark said “#MindBlown. This is so fricking awesome, I actually nearly dropped my phone when I heard Usher say my name…like seriously….Usher !!”
