Dublin music station TXFM celebrates its 1st birthday today (Tuesday). To mark the occasion, TXFM is asking listeners to request their #1song all across the day and be in with the chance to win tickets to Electric Picnic.
In the 12 short months since it first went on air, the alternative music source has enjoyed a number of ‘firsts’ including a live show guest presented by John Grant and an exclusive interview with U2 guitarist The Edge.
The station took to the airwaves at 8am on Monday 31st March 2014, with TXFM Breakfast presenter Cathal Funge kicking off with Primal Scream’s ‘Moving on Up’.
TXFM was in the thick of the action on the summer festival circuit as the official music station at Longitude 2014. The station also broadcast live from Electric Picnic 2014, interviewing some of the festivals biggest acts and providing live DJ sets from Nialler9, Claire Beck and Derek Byrne.
In October, the station celebrated THREE nominations at the PPI Radio Awards 2014, with Breakfast presenter Cathal Funge picking up TWO awards on the night in the New Irish Music category (Gold) and Music Documentary category (Bronze).
With 50,000 listeners tuning in every week (23,000 every day!), TXFM is the station of choice for Dublin’s indie music fans.
Broadcasting on 105.2FM across Dublin City and County, TXFM replaced the old Phantom and went on air in March 2014. TXFM features familiar names including Claire Beck, John Caddell, Cathal Funge, Kelly-Anne Byrne and Joe Donnelly, as well as respected music blogger Nialler9, and musician, producer and regular with Lisa Hannigan’s band, Gavin Glass. Most recently, TXFM has added Paul McLoone and Donal Dineen to its presenter line up.
