Tommy Bowe chats to Ray D’Arcy after triumphant win against South Africa

Ulster and Ireland winger Tommy Bowe dropped into The Ray D’Arcy Show this morning (Monday), fresh from our success against South Africa at Dublin’s Aviva stadium on Saturday.

Tommy Bowe secured Ireland’s victorious win against the Springbok’s in the first of three GUINNESS Series matches. Speaking about the victory, made sweeter by his 27th international try, Tommy said:

“Great victory, obviously having been out of the Irish team for almost a year, [I was a] bit nervous coming into the game but delighted to be back in the team and what a performance to be a part of. Plenty of smiles on faces at the moment.”

Asked whether the team had been training to take advantage of any weaknesses in the South Africa performance, Tommy told Ray:

“We’ve done our homework on South Africa and in fairness to the coaches they’re so thorough with everything… Can’t be giving away too many secrets, I might not be allowed back into camp again…. and Joe [Schmidt] could be listening so I might be in trouble!”

Speaking about Ireland having been written off against South Africa by various pundits, Tommy explained that this was not a view shared by the team:

“There’s a belief in this side at the minute. We’re Six Nations champions”.

Tommy Bowe was in studio to launch his new XV Kings fashion collection with includes 56 new styles. Tommy, who is engaged to former Miss Wales Lucy Whitehouse, says he gets some slagging from his teammates when he tries “to talk like a fashionista” but explains that the guys come to him with ideas for new styles.
