Today FM has captured the attention of the nation with a huge cash giveaway called ‘You do the Maps’ which involves listeners searching for a series of numbers using Google Maps™ to win, €10,000 every day.
The promotion, which runs weekdays from 7am to 7pm on the national radio station, started on Tuesday, 2nd June and will run for 20 days, giving away a grand total of €200,000.
The simple mechanic sees every show from The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show to The Last Word reveal a clue leading to a location on Google Maps™ Street View. Listeners must collect 5 numbers from the clues; add them together and text the station to win. The Last Word presenter Matt Cooper reveals the lucky winner live on air during his show each day.
So far, the lucky winners are not only €10,000 richer but each received their prize cheque that same day with presenters Ian Dempsey, Neil Delamere, Paula MacSweeney and Dermot & Dave taking to the skies via helicopter to deliver the prize. Winners to date have hailed from the length and breadth of Ireland including Waterford, Cork, Galway, Dublin and Laois.
Speaking about the popular promotion, Today FM Marketing Manager Róisín Reilly: “We’ve been blown away by the reaction to ‘You do the Maps’, it’s exceeded all expectations just one week into the promotion. Listeners are really engaging with the game and some are even forming their own ‘new twitter community (#NTC)’ online to swap information and have some fun with the daily clues. There’s a lot you can do with €10,000 and it’s great to hear the excitement in the winners’ voices when they get that all important phone call”
‘You do the Maps’ continues weekdays on Today FM until Monday, 29th June. Full details on how to play, including the list of clues and answers to date is on www.todayfm.com/maps
