Dublin’s 98 Support Kilometres for Kids Crumlin Team

18th August 2009

Dublin, 18th August 2009: Today, Tuesday August 18, Dublin’s 98 Radio Presenter Declan Pierce made a strong appeal for all this year’s Dublin City Marathon runners, joggers or walkers to sign up and support the Kilometres for Kids Crumlin Team for sick kids.

Together with top model Roberta Rowatt and little Laoise O’ Connell aged 7, Declan spoke of his own reasons for driving this challenge and choosing Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin’s charity, The Children’s Medical & Research Foundation.

“Training for this marathon has been a huge eye opener. It is a colossal challenge but it is nothing in comparison to the challenges sick children overcome each and every day in this hospital with the help and support of the Crumlin staff. I want as many people to sign up for Crumlin’s sick kids this year. With every step and every kilometre we can make the difference. Let’s stand with them and show them how much we care.”

“This year all funds raised will help Crumlin support the much needed expansion of the Emergency Department. At a cost of €1.6m, this state of the art extension will enhance the quality of care that a sick child receives.”

“To be part of this great team you can log onto www.dublins98.ie and follow my training plans, tune into my 98 Drive show weekdays from 4-7pm or contact the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation directly for all your fundraising materials and free t-shirt on locall 1890 507508. So come on go that extra distance for sick kids, join me and be part of the Kilometres for Kids Crumlin Team.”
