98FM is doing it again Care 4 Kids Radiothon is back raising funds for Sick Children
98 FM unites for the second time with the Children’s Miracle Network and Ireland’s three children’s hospitals; Our Ladys Hospital for Children, Crumlin, Temple Street University Hospital and The National Children’s hospital, Tallaght, for a four-day live radio broadcast of the award winning ‘Care 4 Kids Radiothon’, sponsored by Remax, to raise much needed funds for sick children. Children’s Miracle Network, is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of sick children by helping raise funds and generate awareness for children’s hospitals. They strive to help those who have triumphed despite severe medical challenges and are currently raising funds for, amongst others, Ireland’s three national children’s hospitals.
98FM was the first radio station in Europe to host an event of this kind, in 2007 and the success was unprecedented. Last year the 98FM Care for Kids Radiothon raised a whopping €600,000 and over 3,000 brand new gifts for kids were donated. This weekend 98FM aims to top this figure making it even bigger and better than before.
The Radiothon aims to highlight both moving and poignant stories from ill children all over the country. During the broadcast, parents and staff will also get involved by sharing their tales of joy and woe with the general public.
98FM will kick start the Radiothon by hosting one of the biggest parties of the year in Vicar St, Dublin on Wednesday, 5th March from 7pm with; The Troll Bandits Bash. It will be a night of music, fun & fundraising to encourage Dubliner’s to support the Radiothon. Entertainment on the night will include; music from Dave Browne of Picture House, world famous 80’s cover band Spring Break, an appearance by the infamous Toll Trolls with DJ Barry Dunne on the decks.
From Friday the 7th of March until Monday 10th March, the 98 FM presenters will be broadcasting live from the Medial Tower in Crumlin Children’s Hospital while the 98FM Thunderbus will be live all day on Saturday at Temple Street University Hospital and at The National Children’s hospital, Tallaght on Sunday with the 98 FM Thunderteam from 9am - 6pm each day.
