98FM’s Little Becky Brightens up the BBC

1st December 2007

98FM’s, youngest star Little Becky has become somewhat of an international hit. Little Becky, who at the tender age of just ten, is famous for her hilarious prank phone calls that have been aired in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, has most recently made the BBC laugh out loud with her latest prank, when she called a demolition company in Belfast asking them if they would “blow up her school!”.

The clip was aired on Wake up with Wogan; Terry Wogan’s breakfast show has a listenership of nearly twice the population of Ireland! Presenter Johnnie Walker, who is standing in while Terry is on holiday, said that “Little Becky made a lot of people laugh”, so they just had to get her on the air for the eight million people who tune in to Wake up with Wogan each morning to hear more of Ireland’s youngest comedian live on the BBC airwaves.

When asked what Little Becky ’s school mates thought of the prank, Little Becky explained that they were “a little shocked”, but “I told them I was only joking”. She spoke about her favourite prank phone calls to include an early morning call to the infamous Ben Dunne, where she made fun of his voice. Ben wittingly managed to turn the tables around and started to do his own funny impressions of Becky! And, when she asked Dublin Zoo if she could buy a real elephant and bring him home! While Dublin Zoo said that you simply cannot bring an elephant into your house, Little Becky jokingly replied “I can squeeze him through the door of my house; the only problem will be getting him back out!”

Just back from a recent family holiday, 98FM’s Little Becky seems to be taking fame in her stride, as her mum had to drag her out of bed to chat live on BBC radio. Not only will Little Becky be recording an album of children’s party songs this summer but she will also be appearing in the pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ this Christmas in Olympia Theatre, Dublin.

You can hear Little Becky ’s hilarious prank calls live on the 98FM Morning Crew with Dermot, Dave & Siobhan weekdays from 6am – 10am.
