Dubliners Have Banned Rhianna’s UMBRELLA on 98FM

1st December 2007

According to 98FM, Dubliners have had enough! The summer of 2007 has recorded 49 consecutive days of rainfall from June 11 to July 29 and there is still no sign of it letting up! Coincidentally the UMBRELLA song by pop sensation Rhianna has reigned at the top of the Irish charts for the summer period. Dubliners have put their foot down and demanded that the rain and Rhianna STOP! Siobhan O’Connor, from the 98FM Morning Crew said: “It is just too depressing! I love that song but every time it is played it starts to rain, so we’ve asked our listeners what they want”. The recent poll carried out by 98FM asked listeners if Rhianna’s smash hit UMBRELLA should remain on the 98FM play-list. A phenomenal surge of text messages throughout the day resulted in an overwhelming 80% of Dubliners voting NO! So 98FM have promised NOT to play the song again, in the hope that the weather might improve!

In its place, Siobhan O’Connor, has penned her very own version of the song in an effort to cheer up the people of Dublin. So far this version has brought a little sunshine to the city, telling the story of Dublin’s ‘pasty’ girls with ‘bingo wings…going outta our minds without a fella ella ella ella eh eh eh!

Tune into the Morning Crew on 98FM between week days 6am – 10am and let Dermot, Dave & Siobhan know what you think of the new hit song that’s being broadcast on the airwaves!

(Chorus to Umbrella by Rhianna)

Because when the sun shines we mooch forever,
So much easier to get a fella,
No muffin tops hanging out on the beach,
Lads have given up on the beach n all the girls are in heat,
With a tan I would have been a stunner,
Now I’m pale,
Bingo wings such a bummer,
Coz of Dublin’s crappy weather,
Outta our minds without a fella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh,
We’re pasty Dubs without a fella,
All we’ve got is crappy weather…
