Newstalk Launches the Tom Dunne Festival Trail with Discover Ireland.ie

Tom Dunne may be used to travelling around the country on a tour bus from his days with the band Something Happens, but his latest tour is a much different proposition. The Newstalk 106-108fm presenter is embarking on a nationwide festival trail in conjunction with Discover Ireland.ie.

“This summer tour will eclipse any summer tour I’ve done before,” says Tom. “The Irish festival circuit has grown and grown in the past few years and we really are spoilt for choice. What better way to get out and about and meet not just the people who organize all these festivals, but the people who go to them as well.”

Tom isn’t worried about the likelihood of bad weather: “We’re all used to enjoying ourselves despite the rain, and with my customized double-decker tour bus I can always take a bit of shelter if things get nasty. In any case, we promise to put on an entertaining show at every location we end up at, with lively guests, great local food and plenty of activities for all the family; by all means bring along your kids to the bus and say hello!”.

Discover Ireland.ie will also be providing information on local attractions and key highlights of specific regions at every broadcast, and people can visit www.discoverireland.ie for further details. The Tom Dunne Festival Trail with Discover Ireland.ie will be broadcasting from Emmet Place in Cork City on Friday June 17th and the following Friday 24th will see the bus arrive in Westport for the Folk & Bluegrass Festival.

On July 1st Tom will drive into the heart of Waterford for the Tall Ships Festival and on Friday July 8th he’ll be parked at Eyre Square for the Galway Film Fleadh and all that Galway has to offer.

The Newstalk presenter will then try his hand at a spot of tag rugby on July 15th at the famous Pig n Porter Tag Rugby festival in Rosbrien, Limerick. The last date on the tour is Friday July 29th on Main Street Killarney for the Irish Open and Killarney Summerfest.
