98FM and Arnotts took over a Dublin Bus on Monday morning and transformed it into a travelling Christmas party for 60 unsuspecting passengers going about their normal daily commute into the city centre. The festive journey included a host of special guests, entertainment and a Christmas gift for all as part of the station’s Christmas Crackers Campaign with the department store.
Kicking off in the suburbs The cast of The Olympia Theatre’s Pantomime Aladdin were first on board with cast members including Panto Dame Linda Martin and Fair City’s Ryan Andrews (aka Sean Cassidy) having the craic with passengers and giving them a preview of their on-stage antics. The Halleluia Gospel Choir also jumped on board and gave an electrifying performance of Santa Claus is Coming to Town and other classic carols. Louis Walsh’s boy band HOMETOWN also hopped on and sang their number 1 song Where I Belong while passengers enjoyed breakfast treats provided by Arnotts.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without Santa! The man himself made an appearance along with 98FM Presenter Dara Quilty and handed a Christmas gift to every passenger while leading them in a rendition of Jingle Bells.
Speaking about the surprise journey passenger Sarah O’Connell from Terenure said, “This has really made my Christmas, I had just had a bad week so to kick off the week like this has brightened up my day.”
Fellow passenger Paul Kenny from South Dublin added “I couldn’t believe my eyes this morning, there was a surprise at every stop, from Linda Martin to Santa Clause – it was great craic!”
The Central Bank on Dame Street was the final stop where the Choir, Santa and the 98FM Thunder Team disembarked and where sprinkled with snow from the top deck. Beats a regular Monday morning!
