In the few short months since its launch, TXFM, Dublin’s alternative music station, is attracting a daily audience of 20,000 listeners. That’s according to the latest JNLR radio audience results, released today.
For the period October 2013 – September 2014, TXFM recorded a weekly audience reach of 45,000, an increase of 5,000 listeners since the last survey results 3 months ago. Of that 45,000, 24,000 fall within the 15-34 year old age group.
Broadcasting on 105.2FM across Dublin City and County, TXFM replaced the old Phantom and went on air on March 31st this year. Its line-up features a range of recognisable and brand new presenters, all with a different take on music, compared to the more mainstream stations.
Commenting on the latest figures, Peter McPartlin, CEO of TXFM, said “ The response from fans in search of an alternative to the music mainstream, has been hugely encouraging. We didn’t launch with any fanfare – we’ve just let our approach to great new music shine through. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved in such a short time.”
While the main focus of TXFM is on authentic music, the schedule features everything from alternative rock and Americana, to modern soul and electronica and the whole resurgence of vinyl as a format. There is a strong commitment to contemporary Irish music across the schedule.
TXFM features familiar names including Claire Beck, John Caddell, Cathal Funge, Kelly-Anne Byrne and Joe Donnelly. TXFM has also made a virtue of bringing new voices to air, covering new music, sports and specialist shows. It has also introduced new shows from respected music blogger , Niall Byrne, (Nialler9), musician, producer and regular with Lisa Hannigan’s band, Gavin Glass and Kieran McGuinness from Delorentos.
