Brian O’Driscoll voted Irish Man Of The Year

This morning, the results of the annual Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show End of Year Poll were revealed during a special two-hour broadcast.

Over the past 3 weeks, Breakfast Show listeners have been voting in their droves for their favourite movie, song, TV show, book, tweeter and website of the year, to mention a few categories.

Accepting the accolade for Irish Man of the Year, Brian O’Driscoll – who hung up his Irish jersey after Ireland’s successful win at the RBS 6 Nations Championship this year – said:

“There’s plenty of pretty impressive men out there so I think the hoopla of the final year maybe worked in my favour, but I’m sure by the end of it people were glad to see the back of me!”

Speaking about the results of this year’s poll, Ian Dempsey said “If you want to get the best gauge of what was great in 2014, look no further than our listeners. I think these results are a true reflection of a fantastic year.”
